Die Bemalungen / The paint works

The Focke Wulf planes of III. group of SKG (Schnellkampfgeschwader - Fast Assault Wing) sported a Standard Camouflage Pattern based on RLM 74/75/76 like European Standard. The Fuselage sides was mostly covered with RLM 75/76 sprinkles or splotches to darken the light blue under surface colour. As special Theatre Markings used on Planes of North African units the Wing tips and the lower cowling was painted yellow and a vertical white band was applied to the tail section behind the Balkenkreuz. The upper Wing Cross showed the white outline of the Balkenkreuz only since 1943  as it was usual on the Focke Wulf planes to the end of the war.

While the Spinner was painted completely white the Unit emblem or code of arm with the winged arrow on a blew shield was mostly placed on the left side of the cowling hood only.

This Focke plan was assigned normally to Oberleutnant Fritz Schröter, who was on the leave when Leutnant Graf von Westerholt take the plane on the faithful last day of his life when the cabin was hit but AA fire and the plane takes him down on 8th April 1943 near Mezzouna, Tunisia. The Camouflage pattern is RLM 74/75/76 with the unit emblem on the left side of the cowling.
