Bf-109E "Emil" of Jagdgeschwader 5 "Eismeer"

Historische Bemalung (Skins) und Informationen zu Flugzeugen vom Typ Messerschmitt Bf-109E "Emil" des Jagdgeschwaders 5 "Eismeer" bis Herbst 1942.

Historical paintwork and information's regarding the Messerschmitt Bf-109E "Emil" Fighter planes of Jagdgeschwader 5 "Eismeer" of the Luftwaffe till Autumn 1942.

Nach der offiziellen Neuaufstellung des Jagdgeschwader 5 am 25. Januar 1942 aus in Norwegen stationierten Einheiten des JG 77 waren die Jagdstaffel der I., II. and III. Gruppe des JG 5 mit einsitzigen Jäger der Typenreihe Messerschmitt Bf-109T-2, die aus den umgebauten Versuchsmustern der Trägervarianten Bf-109T-1 entstanden und Flugzeugen der Reihe Messerschmitt Bf-109E-7 ausgerüstet. Die Bf-109 "Emil" flogen bis zum Herbst bei der 7./ JG 5 bevor alle Staffel letztendlich auf die neuere Bf-109 "Friedrich" umgerüstet waren.

After official forming of the newly Fighter Units of Jagdgeschwader 5 on 25th January 1942 out of the existing Norway based Units of JG 77 the fighter wings of the I., II. and III. Group of JG 5 was mainly equipped with single fighter planes of the type Messerschmitt Bf-109T-2, which was rebuild out of the remaining Test variant Bf-109T-1 for carrier deployment and the type Bf-109E-7. The Bf-109 "Emil" was used till autumn 1942 with 7./JG 5 than finally all Groups was reequipped with the newer Bf-109 "Friedrich".

Die uniform bemalte Bf-109 E7 von Major Günther Scholz kommandierender Offizier der III./JG 5 aufgenommen im Frühjahr des Jahres 1942 auf dem finnischen Flugfeld von Petsamo. Die Maschine wurde mit dunklem Farben komplett lackiert, Eine Kombination von RLM 72 mit 74 ist möglich. Ich habe die Seiten in einem RLM 72 Farbton ausgeführt. Ansonsten sind auf dem Ruder 30 Abschussbalken und neben dem persönlichen Wappen von Major Scholz, ein leicht bekleidetes Mädchen ist das Wappen der III./JG 5 auf beiden Seiten unterhalb des Cockpits zu erkennen.

This unique painted Bf-109 E7 of Major Günther Scholz, commanding officer of III^rd Group of JG 5 was photographed in spring 1942 at Petsamo airfield in Finland. The plane was completely covered with dark colours, probably a mixture of RLM 72 and 74. I choose a RLM 72 which I applied on the fuselage sides and darkened the rest of the paint scheme. Beside the Markings for 30 air victories the plane sports the personnel marking a light dressed girl and the code of arm of III^rd group of JG 5 on both side beneath the cockpit.

Eine der letzten Bf-109 E7 in Norwegen war die Bf-109 "Gelbe 11" der 6./JG 5 Mitte 1942 fotografiert in Alta zu diesem Zeitpunkt. Die Maschine hatte eine Standardtarnung mit RLM 74, 75, 76 mit gelbem Ruder, Flügelspitzen und einer nicht kompletten gelben unteren Kühlerabdeckung. Das Wappen der zweiten Gruppe JG 5 war auf beiden Seiten der Haube sehr weit zum Propeller angebracht.

One of the last Bf-109E-7 in Norway was the Bf-109E-7 "Yellow 11" of the 6^th Fighter Wing of JG 5. A picture of these aircraft was taken at Alta around that date. Paint scheme in RLM 74, 75, 76 with the code of arms of the second group of JG 5 painted on both side of the hood near to the propeller.

Messerschmitt Bf-109 E7 "Weisse 8" (Upload 01.09.2005)

Eine weitere Bf-109 E7 im Standard Schema RLM 74, 75, 76 verbleibend, mit Flecken von RLM 02 auf beiden Seiten des Rumpfes, sowie einem gelben Rumpfband und der üblichen gelben Markierungen der unteren Tragflachenspitzen und der unter Motorverkleidung. Die Maschine gehörte zur 7./JG 5, zeigte auf beiden Rumpfseiten des Staffelwappen und war im Frühjahr 1942 auf dem Flugfeld bei Petsamo stationiert.

A Bf-109 E7 painted in standard scheme using RLM 74, 75, 76 mottled with light RLM 02 on both sides of the Fuselage, a yellow ribbon around the tail end and the usual yellow markings on the under wing tips and the underside of the air intake. This plane belongs to the 7^th fighter wing, and therefore sported the code of arm for 7^th wing on both fuselage sides and was located at Petsamo Airfield during spring 1942.

Eine weitere interessante Bf-109 E7 des JG 5 war die "Weisse 14" geflogen von Unteroffizier Arthur Beth im Frühjahr 1942. Bei der Verlegung von der 8./JG 5 zur 7./JG 5 behielt die Maschine das Wappen der 8./JG 5 die Nummer ist jedoch in die abgebildete "Weisse 14" geändert worden. Das Tarnschema der Maschine ist RLM 74, 87, 76 Standard mit übermalten Bereichen in verschiedenen Grautönen.

Another interesting Bf-109 E7 of the JG 5 was the "White 14" flown by Sergeant Arthur Beth during spring of 1942. During the transfer of the plane from the 8th wing to the 7^th wing, the number was repainted to "White 14" but the marking of the 8^th fighter wing was still applied on both sides of the fuselage. The camouflage pattern is a variation based on standard RLM 74, 75, 76 with over painted areas in different grey tones.
