Vorwort / Foreword Neben auf der Hauptseite genannten Buchquellen stammen die wichtigen, ergänzenden historischen Information wie gewohnt von Kjetil Åkra aus Norwegen, der es mir ermöglich hat so viele dieser Bemalungen überhaupt zu erstellen. Ich hoffe das ich seine Informationen gut umsetzen konnte und wünsche euch viel Spaß bei stöbern durch diese fantastischen Bemalungsvielfalten der "Eismeerjäger" des Jagdgeschwaders 5. Beside the information's found in the below posted books most of the important an historical relevant information's I received again through Kjetil Åkra from Norway, which makes it possible for me to paint these schemes at all. I hope that I could transpose his information's convenient and I wish you pleasant trip through these fantastic paint schemes of the "Ice sea-Fighter" of Jagdgeschwader 5.

Gruppe des JG 5 geflogen von Hauptmann Horst Carganico in Petsamo & Alakurtti, Finnland im Sommer 1943. Bei seinen älteren Modelle (Bf-109 F) führte Horst Carganico seine persönliches Emblem als kleine Abbildung auf der linken Motorhaube. Dies änderte sich mit seinem Umstieg auf die G-Reihe, Hauptmann Carganico ließ sich auf beide Seiten des Rumpfes das Mickey Mouse Emblem als Kennzeichen aufmalen. Die Mickey Mouse zog an Bänder zwei Schuhe hinterher, welche die Daten der Notlandungen nach Abstürzen und den notwendigen Rückmarsch (die erste am 22.07.1942, die Zweite am 12.08.1942) "auf Schusters Rappen" symbolisierten. Die Maschine zeigte eine mit einem dunklem Graugrünem Farbton übermalte RLM 74/75/76 Tarnung, gelbe Flügelspitzen, sowie das vierblättrige Kleeblatt der II. Gruppe des JG 5 unterhalb des Cockpits nur auf der linken Rumpfseite. Das Ruder war in RLM 75 (hellgrau) lackiert und zeigte linksseitig 53 Abschussmarkierungen.
One of the first Bf-109 G-1 with a pressurized cockpit flown by Hauptmann Horst Carganico of the II. Group of JG 5 based at Petsamo & Alakurtti, Finland Summer 1943. Although his older planes showed a small Mickey Mouse emblem on the left engine cover side, Horst Carganico now changed to a much more spectacular representation and let the toon symbol painted on both sides of the fuselage instead of the numeral. The Mickey Mouse emblem now showed two shoe pulled on their tying band, representing the two force landings on 22ed July and 12th August 1942, where Horst Carganico had to "walk on his shoes" back from enemy territory. The plane sports a RLM 74/75/76 scheme over painted with a dark grey green colour, yellow wingtips on both sides of the wings and the green four leaf clover of II. Group underneth the cockpit on the left side only. On the light grey painted rudder 53 victoriy markings was painted on the left side.

Mai 1943flog Horst Carganico diese Bf-109 G-2, die von ihm ebenfalls mit seinem "Mickey Mouse" Emblem anstelle einer Winkelmarkierung geflogen wurde. Die Maschine zeigte eine mit einem dunklem Graugrünem Farbton übermalte RLM 74/75/76 Tarnung mit den Resten einer in großen Flecken aufgetragenen Wintertarnung, gelbe Flügelspitzen, sowie das vierblättrige Kleeblatt der II. Gruppe des JG 5 unterhalb des Cockpits nur auf der linken Rumpfseite. Das Ruder war in RLM 75 (hellgrau) lackiert und zeigte linksseitig seine 53 Abschussmarkierungen.
After a total loss on the 3rd May 1943 Horst Carganico flew this Bf-109 G-2 which sported also his personnel emblem a big Mickey Mouse on both sides of the fuselage instead a normal chevron marking. The plane sports a RLM 74/75/76 scheme over painted with a dark grey green colour and a fading blotched winter camouflage, yellow wingtips on both sides of the wings and the green four leaf clover of II. Group underneath the cockpit on the left side only. On the light grey painted rudder 53 victory markings was painted on the left side. Staffel) des JG 5 stationiert in Salmijävi (nahe Petsamo), Finnland im Mai 1943. Die Maschine zeigte eine mit einem dunklem Graugrünem Farbton übermalte RLM 74/75/76 Tarnung, gelbe Flügelspitzen, sowie das vierblättrige Kleeblatt der II. Gruppe des JG 5 auf beiden Seiten der Motorhaube. Die Maschine zeigte statt den normalen schwarz eingefassten gelbem Gruppenbalken und Zahlen diese in Weiß. Messerschmitt Bf-109 G-2/R6 "Gelbe 12" (Upload 22.03.2007) Bildquelle/Picture Source: Kjetil Åkra , Book of Eric Mombeek, Eismeerjäger Volume 2 and KAGERO JG 5 "Eismeer" 1942 - 1945 Oberleutnant Heinrich Erler flog diese Bf-109 G-2/Trop im April 1943 und bestätigte zu diesem Zeitpunkt mit 77 Luftsiegen seine herausragende Karriere als Fliegerass. Die Maschine hatte gelb lackierte Flügelspitzen sowie eine gelb lackierte Unterseite des Kühlers. Das Farbschema war eine Kombination aus weißer Temperfarbe auf der grüne unregelmäßige Flecken in RLM 70 aufgesprüht waren. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt verblassten die Farben bereits und zeigten durchlässig den interessanten Untergund. Da die Maschinen der gelieferten Serien alle Bf-109 G-2/Trop Ausführungen waren, ist die Maschine in der Grundtarnung mit RLM 79 "Sandbraun" lackiert. Weiterhin zeigte die Hecksektion den schwarz gerahmten gelben Balken als Zeichen der 6. Staffel der II. Gruppe des JG 5.
Oberleutnant Heinrich Erler has flown this particular Bf-109 G-2/Trop in April 1943 and showed with 77 air victories at this time the continuation of his outstanding career. The plane had the yellow wing tips and the yellow underside of the cowling. The colour scheme showed unequally blotches of RLM 70 over a white winter temper colour. At this time the colours faded away and the normal surface paint was revealed. Because the majority of the Bf-109 G-2 Models delivered to Jagdgeschwader 5 was tropical version the upper surfaces was painted in RLM 79 sand brown. The marking of II. Group and 6th wing a black bordered yellow bar was painted on the rear section.

Gruppe (8. Staffel) des JG 5 stationiert in Petsamo, Finnland Sommer 1943. Diese Maschine flog der damalige Unteroffizier Rudolf "Rudi" Linz (KIA 09.02.1945) nach seiner Rückkehr zum JG 5. Sein persönliches Zeichen ein grünes Herz mit dem Namen "Gretel" in Gelb erinnert an seine Heimatstadt und seine Liebe. Die Maschine zeigte eine mit einem dunklem Grauton übermalte RLM 74/75/76 Tarnung, gelbe Flügelspitzen bis zum Balkenkreuz auf dem unteren Flügeln, sowie den schwarzen Kreis als Kennzeichen der Zugehörigkeit zur dritten Gruppe des JG 5. A very nice Bf-109 G-2 of the III. Group and 8th Fighter Wing of JG 5 based at Petsamo, Finland Summer 1943. The plane was flown by at this time Unteroffizier Rudolf "Rudi" Linz (KIA 09.02.1945) after his return to JG 5. His personnel emblem, a green heard with the yellow inscription "Gretel" remembering to his homestead and his love was drawn on the left fuselage side only. The plane sports a RLM 74/75/76 scheme over painted with a dark grey colour, yellow brode wingtips on the bottom wings and a black circle with a white border stating the assinment to the third group of JG 5.

Messerschmitt Bf-109 G-2 "Schwarze 8" Version 1 (Update 21.03.2007) Bildquelle/Picture Source: Kjetil Åkra personnel pictures and Book of Eric Mombeek, Eismeerjäger Volume 2 Die von Feldwebel Jakob Norz im Sommer 1943 geflogene Bf-109 G-2 der 8./JG 5 (III. Gruppe) stationiert in Petsamo & Alakurtti im Sommer 1943. Auf den Photos (u.a. bei einer Feldheirat) der Maschine ist der verschliffene Rumpf und die nicht fertigen Staffelwappen zu erkennen. Die Markierungen auf dem Rumpf waren frisch aufgemalt und heben sich gegen den Hintergrund stark ab. Der weiß eingefasste schwarze Kreis zeigt die Zugehörigkeit zur III. Gruppe des JG 5. This Bf-109 G-2 was flown by Feldwebel Jakob Norz during Summer 1943 based at Petsamo & Alakurtti and belonged to the 8th wing of (III. Group) JG 5. The photographs (one taken during a field wedding ceremony) available of this plane showed a unfinished fuselage with newly applied Markings including the white bordered black circle of the III. Group. The emblem of the 8th wing was unfinished and showed only base colour of the signs. Die Maschine zeigte ein Bemalung in RLM 74/75/76 mit nachgedunkelten Seitenbereichen am Rumpf und die schwarz eingefasste Stabsmarkierungen mit Winkel und zwei senkrechten Balken. Die Maschine war neben diesen Markierungen mit der weißeingefasste grünen 1 oder 2 gekennzeichnet. Die Flügelspitzen waren beidseitig in RLM 27 lackiert, die Unterseite des Kühlers hatte eine deutliche Trennlinie unterhalb der Auslassöffnungen. Der Spinner war RLM 70 mit grüner Spitze und einer weißen Trennlinie bemalt. Da eine exakte Zuordnung des Numerals nicht möglich ist habe ich wie von Kjetil Åkra vorgeschlagen eine "Grüne 1" und eine "Grüne 2" gemalt. The plane was painted in RLM 74/75/76 colours with a darkened fuselage area and showed the white bordered black chevrons and bars of staff markings and a green 1 or 2! The wingtips was painted in RLM 27 yellow on both sides and a the underside of the cowling was also painted in yellow with a clearly visibly borderline beneath the exhaust openings. The Spinner was painted in RLM 70 dark green showing a green tip with a small white line separating the front part from the rear spinner. Because there is no definite statement about the numeral given on this plane I choose Kjetil Åkra way and painted a "Green 1" and a "Green 2".

Messerschmitt Bf-109 G-4 "Weisse 4" (Update 21.03.2007) Bildquelle/Picture Source: Kjetil Åkra and in Messerschmitt Bf109 F, G, and K: An Illustrated Study on page 73 Eine schöne Bf-109 G-4 (deshalb die Fahrwerksbeulen auf den Tragflächen) der IV./JG 5 stationiert in Trondheim-Lade in Norwegen im Sommer 1943. Die Maschine zeigte ein Bemalung in RLM 74/75/76 mit nachgedunkelten Seitenbereichen am Rumpf und die schwarz eingefasste weiße Welle der IV. Gruppe. Geflogen wurde diese Maschine von Leutnant Koch im Sommer 1943. A very nice Bf-109 G-4 (because of that the plane shows the bulges of bigger wheels on top of the wings) of the IV. group of JG 5 based at Trondheim-Lade in Norway Summer 1943. The plane was painted in RLM 74/75/76 colours with a darkened fuselage area and showed the black bordered white wave of IV. Group. The plane was flown by Leutnant Koch in Summer 1943.
