My paintschemes are based on BlackHellHound1's wonderful Template of the Bf-109 F-series where he has created beside the respectivly Alpha Channel and an new version of the Bump Map File, which suited his paintschemes better and more precise than the original one. So, download the file and replace the original file BF109F2.dds or file BF109F4.dds in the game file in the shown path.

This Bf-109 F2 was flown by Hauptmann
Hans von Hahn during Sommer 1941 and sported the green
"Tatzelwurm", an ancient german kind of dragon on both sides of the cowling
as sign of belonging to the Stab (commanding staff) of the I./JG 3,
which which he led as Staffelführer (captain)
Remarkable was the circle camouflage pattern on both sides of the
fuselage, where differnt sizes of circles in RLM 70 overpainted or added the
comouflage of the plane. Both wings also was repainted with the same Colour.
The spinner showed a white spiral on a green spinner cap. In addition he had painted the code of armour of his hometown Frankfurt
on the starboard side and his personal symbol the head of a rooster (cock
head) on the other side.
On the yellow tail his 34 aerial victories marks
was presented, showing also his 3 ballon shots and 3 strafe victories. He
archieved the Knight's Cross July 9th, 1941.
After reassigning on January 15, 1942 he became captain of
the new build II./JG 1 and switched to a Bf-109 F4, which I also painted in
the follwing schems of this page.

This Messerschmitt Bf-109-F4 was flown by Leutnant Detlev Rohwer
during Sommer 1941 and sported the green "Tatzelwurm", an ancient german
kind of dragon on both sides of the cowling as sign that the plane belonged
to the Gruppenstab of I./JG 3. He sported a wired muster of RLM 70 lines as
addition the factory camouflage scheme and had his personal symbol, a
drwaing of the famous "Götz von Berlichingen" on both sides of the fuselage.
The spinner showed a white spiral (really a spiral, not rings!!!) on a green
spinner cap.
Götz von Berlichingen a german knight is best know by his sentence "But
him, tell him he can kiss my ass!", so the figured showed the knight with
bare buttocks! In the magazin Luftwaffe im Focus, Edition 22 is the plane
and the figure very well documented in profile drawing an photographs.
Black, heatresistent colour was applied to the wing connections on both
sides of the fuselage and the shoulder parts of the wing. The tail wing
showed Detlev Rohwers aireal victories for which he was
awarded on October 5th, 1942 with the Knight's Cross after archiving 26
victories.

Reassigned to his new task as Staffelführer of II./JG 1 Hauptmann
Hans von Hahn flew this Messerschmitt Bf-109 F4
since beginning of 1942 which also showed the green "Tatzelwurm" on both sides of the cowling as sign of
belonging to the Stab (commanding staff) of the new II./JG 1.
The plane sported the standard camouflage pattern for Bf-109 F models which was
changed to the needs of the western front with additional blotches of RLM 74
and 75 on the fuselage. The spinner showed also here a white spiral on a
green spinner cap.
Like on his old plane his personals symbols showing the code of armour
of his hometown Frankfurt and the cocks head was applied the the sides of
the fuselage.
Reputedly, he was later relieved of this command and confined to quarters in
June 1942 under somewhat mysterious circumstances relating to the shooting
of a sentry.

Bildquelle/Picture Source:

Pictures & profiles refering to references on main page
This Messerschmitt Bf-109 F4 was flown by Oberleutnant Max
Bucholz
during early summer 1942 and sported the red "Tatzelwurm" for
fifth group of JG 1 on both sides of the cowling. He also was reassigned to
JG 1 in the reorganisation of the JG 1 units and joined with his comrades
Hans von Hahn, Robert Olejnik and
Detlev Rohwer the new build fighter wing in Holland.
His personal symbol, a black and whit sea gull was painted on both
fuselage sides in the sam way where it was later drawn on his Fw-190 planes.
The bird was painted black and white and not blue and white as many profiles
specify.
I have drawn these schems also and present them on the pages related to the
Focke Wulf birds of JG 1!
