Reichsverteidigung - Defence of the Reich

Messerschmitt Bf-109 G14 during Defence of the Reich till May 1945

Auf dieser Seite präsentiere ich Farbschemen (Skinpacks) für die Messerschmitt Bf-109 G14 Flugzeugmodelle der Simulation, die innerhalb der Reichsverteidigung bis zum Kriegsende im Einsatz waren.

On this page I will present the collections of my own paint schemes (Skinpacks) for the Messerschmitt Bf-109 G14 series for the public use in the Simulation, which was engaged during the "Reichsverteidigung" till the end of war.

All Skinpacks used beside the respectivly Alpha Channel also my own version of the Bump Map/Normal Map File in 4k resolution, which suited my paintschemes better than the original one. Downloading the MOD File and using a MOD Manager (like JSGME) you install and deinstall easily the skinfiles and the new Bump Map/Normal Map!

Therefore a safety copy of the original Bump Map/Normal Map is not necessary!

Messerschmitt Bf-109-G6/R6 based in Leeuwarden (Netherlands) mid to 1943

Skinpack for IL2 BOS Series

During 1944 III./JG 1 "Oesau" was assigned in the areas of France, Netherlands and Germany agains USAAF & RAF bomber formations. Like JG 3 many Aces flew with 7th and 8th Staffel.

Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14/R3 "Black 7", W.Nr.: 413 601 of 8./JG 1, assigned to airfield Beauvais-Tillé in France during Summer 1944. The pilot Unteroffizier Jakob Vogel made an emergency landing with this aircraft near Fontenay-le-Pesnel in the Normandy on July 24th, 1944 and was recovered and captured by British Troops. The Bf-109 G14 of Jakob Vogel is well documented in a series of photographs taken after the emergency landing, during the transport and was painted in a camouflage scheme which was applied by the factories in Regensburg showing a standart RLM 74/75/76 scheme with blotches of RLM 75 and RLM 70 on the fuselage.

Bf-109 G14 "Black Chevron 2" of III./JG 3 emerency landed in Affeltrangen December 17th, 1944

Skinpack for IL2 BOS Series

This Bf-109 G14 of III./JG 3 was painted in a camouflage scheme which was applied by the factories in Regensburg showing a standart RLM 74/75/76 scheme with blotches of RLM 75 and RLM 70 on the fuselage. The W.Nr. of the plane was 262 818 which seems to be a wrong Batch number. The propeller hut showed a thicker black spiral over a white base, which was common for the Stabs Units of JG 3. The W.Nr. 262 818 is interesting, because there are no batches of Bf-109 G-models with this kind of numbers. Paperwise the 262 818 actually is registered as 462 818 and was manufactured in Leipzig in the Erla factories.

Bf-109 G14 AM "Black 6" of 11./JG 53 flown by Alfred Grislawski

MouseOver Button Picture-RVT-Grislawski-JG53

Messerschmitt Bf-109-G14/R3 based in Paderborn (Germany) September 1944

Skinpack for IL2 BOS Series

During the Summer till end of war in 1945 the day fighter units of JG 53 "Pik As" was assigned in defence western parts of Germany and Netherlands agains USAAF & RAF bomber formations and their fighter escorts. The third group (III./JG 53) was increased to 4 Staffeln by August 20th, 1944 and Alfred Grislawski take command of the 11./JG 53 on August 12th, 1944 till his last flight on September 26, 1944.

Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14/R3 "Black 6", W.Nr.: 462 649 of 11./JG 53, assigned to airfield Paderborn in Germany during Summer 1944 and was flown by Hauptmann Alfred Grislawski (132 air victories to that day) who was shot down on Tuesday 26 September 1944 by Colonel Hubert Zemke (17.75 Kills) in the skies over the German town Münster. At 16:25 hours that day Hauptmann Alfred Grislawski took of from Paderborn and led 38 Bf 109 G-series fighters from III./JG 53 towards the heavy fighting in and above the Nijmegen area.

Flying at 13,000 feet the German fighters was suddenly bounced by twelve Mustangs of the 479th FG led by their commander Hubert Zemke. Vectored towards the battle the Lightnings of the the same unit, the 434th Sqn also joined the battle, attacking the turing and twisting Messerschmitts down below. The sky was soon filled with burning german fighters and in the ensuring battle the Luftwaffe lost 17 planes, which twelve was from the third Group and the rest from JG 1 and JG 300.

Overall, ten german pilots was killed or MIA, with a further three pilots WIA, including Hauptmann Alfred Grislawski. His injuries was later found to be so severe that his flight career was over. As Alfred Grislawski comment to me "this lucky shot and severe injury must have saved my life". So perhaps the fact is that Grislawski, this fantastic character, owed his life to the most competent unit leader in USAAF, and one of their best fighter pilots, Hubert "Hub" Zemke.

Remark:

The camouflage pattern to which I refer was stipulated by Alfred Grislawski himself during the sessions with Author Christer Bergström and Illustrator Claes Sundin preparing the Biography of Herrmann Graf & Alfred Grislawski in 2001/2002. So therefor I stay with this profil of RLM 74/82/76 late war scheme for Bf-109 G14 AM series.
